これはブラームスではないという人がいても反対はしない。しかし説得力のある演奏だ。こんな演奏は前田さん自身も何回もできないだろう。演奏は一回限りのものだということを思い返す。

I love this concerto and play it myself Vengorov is undoubtedly one of the greatest violinists we have in the world today. I very much like his interpretation. Like others noted the tempo is ax little slower than say taken by Perlman and Barenboim. But I like it both. With a slower tempo some of phrasing becomes more heartfelt, while in other parts a faster tempo works better. My own preference has to do less with the tempo and more with the tone of Vengerov’s interpretation. Often I think he does not follow the dynamic markings of Beethoven, often he is louder than he should be in my opinion. His intonation is incredibly accurate, but his tone is often too bright, a more velour-kind of tone would be more beautiful and express what I think Beethoven meant. The cadenzas Vengerov chose are beautiful but the more usual Kreisler cadenzas are I think the best ever written for this marvelous work.

So straight from the heart, love it! I played the Chaconne myself in my musical career before it ended due to medical issues, so I'm quite critical of the piece ;-) But Hana plays it so beautifully! I have small hands too, so the D-F-D interval was a problem for me as well. It's the only difficult point in the Chaconne for those with small hands,...
